Research
Dissertation
My on-going dissertation research examines the long-term effects of an intercultural teaching curriculum design, which centers multiple perspectives and multimodal texts. I approach this research by jointly centering alternative (and often individualized and marginalized) literary texts with students' voices to investigate what role this plays in exploring societal issues often connected to mainstream discourse; and what this might inform us about intercultural teaching and learning.
Masters
My MA Thesis work - Raising Intercultural Consciousness through Literary Dialogue in a Second Language Classroom - examined how literature, digital social reading and classroom dialogue can be used to create a space for intercultural reflection in the beginning level language course. Findings from this work contribute to literature on computer-assisted learning, multiliteracies, literary pragmatics, and intercultural teaching and learning.
